Dr. Angela Beth Armstead, DDS
Dr. Armstead received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Physics from Marshall University and graduated with Cum Laude honors in 1991. She then enrolled in West Virginia University School of Dentistry where she graduated with Honors in 1995. She was also inducted into the Honorary Dental Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Armstead chose to base her practice here in the Mountain State, serving her home town of Clendenin for 10 years until moving to her present day, Charleston based office in 2006.
Her dental practice has been awarded “Best in the Valley” by Charleston Gazette-Mail readers in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Dr. Armstead has also been honored with the American Society of Dentistry for Children Certificate of Merit and the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Award.
Her professional affiliations include:
- American Dental Association (ADA)
- West Virginia Dental Association (WVDA)
- Kanawha Valley Dental Association (KVDA)
- American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD)
As a life-long resident of West Virginia and a graduate of Elk River’s own Herbert Hoover High School, Dr. Armstead has dedicated herself to serving the state through a commitment to general family dentistry. This work extends far beyond her own office, as she has a Faculty Appointment with the WVU School of Dentistry where she acts as an off-site professor to students just beginning to ply their craft.
During these students’ 6-week rotation, Dr. Armstead supervises while they offer discounted dental procedures to those patients with the greatest needs and the least amount of resources. Keeping with the caring philosophy that those who work with her are family, she stays in touch with many of her students long after they graduate.
Dr. Armstead is also active in many programs geared towards children, as her practice was designated as an AAPD Head Start Dental Home Initiative Office. This program aims to get all kindergarten-age children an oral examination before starting school to address the growing concerns of childhood tooth decay. She is also the only provider in Kanawha County for “Smiles Across America,” a service which gives free cleanings and sealants to all children under the age of 18, regardless of income or availability of insurance.
In her free time, Angela is an avid automotive enthusiast, with a love for drag racing, car shows, and motorcycles. She owns a 1951 Henry J, which she and her family enjoy taking to various car shows around the state. When she is not traveling by automobile or motorcycle, she can be found helping around the farm in Ripley, WV, where she keeps her two Austrailan Shepherds.
